The brief 

Our client was looking for an experienced People Services Manager for a fixed term maternity contract to be based at one of their South West key offices. The role was to be specifically focused on the governance and transactional side of HR services alongside leading the central administration and payroll teams. There was a strong emphasis on finding someone who understood the importance of managing the workload effectively during the individual’s maternity leave.

The process

The People Services Manager position required a candidate with a meticulous nature. A natural, collaborative leader with drive and determination. Our professional, who has 15 years HR experience, started as an HR Assistant for a firm of solicitors and went through to Head of HR, together with 5 years as an L&D Trainer. They had gained experience of the compliance and transactional side of HR, both in their current and previous roles. Lastly and importantly, our candidate had strong Emotional Intelligence (EQ), coupled with a disciplined and professional approach.

The result

Due to the specific nature of the brief King Recruit set up a recruitment campaign and headhunted the successful candidate. The candidate went through a 2-stage interview process. From instruction to offer stage, the process took 4 weeks.

It’s very likely that the firm will retain the candidate following the maternity cover for a permanent opportunity.
