Overview of Your Role

Are you an experienced Data Manager who embraces business change? We’re seeking a team player and a strong leader who has proven expertise in company-wide systems implementation.


As Data Manager, you’ll join our dynamic Program Team, based just outside of Newquay, Cornwall. The role will hold responsibility for the development of the strategic and operational governance and framework for data within the St Austell Family Group and for the collection, maintenance, and analysis of data following the procedures and policies.


We are currently delivering a business change project including the implementation of an ERP system. Day to day you would be involved in all aspects of the program to produce a data strategy and then implement this through the program and across the wider business.


The ultimate goal for the Data Manager will be to ensure that every employee of the St Austell Family Group ensures we continue to Deliver Excellence.

Your Responsibilities


  • Design and delivery of the data migration plan for the ERP implementation project
  • Maintain knowledge of current data practices and science.
  • Develop strategic and operational data governance frameworks, data policies and procedures, data flow and data definition documentation.
  • Determine the kind of data to be collected and identify the resources with which to effectively collect them.
  • Work with our implementation partners and internal technology on the prescribed data migration tasks as detailed in the individual project charters and plans from a high-level data view
  • Organise, implement, and enforce correct data collection policies and methods
  • Give proper training to employees to be able to perform data collection independently and effectively
  • Ensure the proper functioning of data collection software and Internet applications
  • Develop data collection methods that are individually relevant to any project being embarked upon by the St Austell Family Group


Your Key Skills, Experience & Attributes


It’s a given that you’re passionate about data, but we would also like you to have the following skills:


  • Proven experience as a Data Manager
  • Experience of large-scale complex projects – ERP transformation or similar.
  • Project management experience with specific knowledge of the data journey
  • Project qualification i.e. Prince2 or similar
  • Full understanding of current data-related legislation – GDPR
  • Good numerical and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate good management and leadership
  • Willing and able to work in a team, as either a member of a team or the leader of the team
  • To think critically (out of the box) and also be able to pay complete attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and be able to display excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent IT skills (including data evaluation/analysis using relevant computer application)
  • Desirable Skills
  • Degree educated – data management analysis, computer science, computer engineering, statistics, or other IT-related field.
