The brief 

King Recruit to work on a retained contract basis to find a unique set of skills for a specialised business within the engineering sector. The client was in the process of restructuring the team and it was important to find someone who had a mechanical engineering qualification as well as excellent service management and leadership skills. They had previously had mixed success had hiring via direct means.


The process

We took a hybrid approach to sourcing candidates. We advertised the position locally, but we also conducted a nationwide headhunting search for suitable applicants. In the end, the successful appointee was someone who was approached by King Recruit, and we also had a very close second choice. The suitable applicant was degree educated with a solid 8 year background within a relevant industry. With him he brought an additional skill set from having worked for a larger global business.


The result

The recruitment process took 8 weeks from instruction to start date. The initial interview was conducted by the Head of Sales, and the second stage was a presentation to the board.

The ‘runner-up’ is likely to be engaged with the business, when they have the next suitable opening.
